Mens 8 Finish 3rd In Heat

The OURC mens 8 have finished 3rd in the heats in Chengdu, China this morning. The crew will go on to the A final on Sunday morning. After a fast start from all crews Yale and Cambridge established themselves as race leaders early on and moved out to a quarter of a lenght over the field. By the 700m mark the race leaders were established and Otago joined Yale and Cambridge and opened out a significant lead over the rest of the field. The lead changed several times between Yale and Cambridge with Otago holding 3rd through the 2nd 1000m. Otago pulled to within a quarter of a length but were out sprinted to the line.
The atmosphere was incredible with a huge crowd lining either side of the course. Otago is now looking forward to the final to try and improve on their performance.
