Womens 8 Finish 2nd In Usa

The OURC womens 8 have finished a strong 2nd in their race at the Windermere Cup regatta in Washington USA. The Weather was cloudy with a very slight head wind on race day. The crew had an awesome start and went down to a rythym of 37 to 30 strokes per minute and moved out to a 1 length lead by the 500m mark and managed to hold it through to the 1000m mark. Washington then made a huge move to pull up alongside and then over the next 500m took a three seat lead. Washington then pulled out to almost a lengths lead with 300m to go - but Otago was not finished and hit back with their own huge move, but ran out of water and finished 2nd by 3.5 seconds. The crew was disappointed with 2nd place - but pleased overall after learning that they were placed 3rd overall on time behind the two University Washington Crews - well ahead of the Argentinian team.
