Ourc Red Coats And Medalists

OURC rowers have finished the season off in style with several great results and the National Champs in Twizel last week.

The Mens Club 8 crew of Matt McGovern (stroke), Adam Garden, Trent Morris, Matt Smail, William Hyndman, Peter McDowall, Thomas Stott, Jamie Saunders and coxswain Aynsley Moore won their event ahead of crews from Avon and Christ college in a time of 6 min 13 seconds.

The Novice mens crew won two silver medals in the Novice Mens 4+ and 8+. The crew of Wills Lynton (stroke), Greg Crooks, Adam Harris, Edward Styles and coxswain Aynsley Moore combined with the Wanaka Novice Men to take out the silver medal in the 8+ behind the crew from Avon.

Elyse Fraser finished 2nd in the Womens Senior 1x, less than a second behind 1st place.

OURC rowers Fiona Bourke and Sarah Lindley won the Womens Premier 8+ title with other members of the Southern RPC. Fiona also finished 3rd in the Womens Premier 1x behind Lucy Strack and Emma Twigg.
OURC also had success in the Mens Lightweight 2x and 2- with Justin Evans finishing 2nd and 3rd in these events. James Harvey, also rowing as part of Southern RPC, finished 2nd in the Mens U21 8+. Micheal Dessoulavy won his second red coat in the Premier Mens 8+ when he coxed the Southern Crew to victory.
