High Performance Program Underway

May 6, 2010

The new High Performance program at Otago University Rowing Club run in conjunction with Rowing New Zealand is well underway now. Athletes have been selected into their training groups and have begun a full program of rowing with head coach Grant Craies and weights training at the academy of sport under the watchful eye of Chris Donaldson. The goal of the program is to get as many athletes to an RPC standard as possible and to push those in the RPC to a national standard.

The Coaches:

Chris Donaldson has dominated the New Zealand sprinting scene for the past decade and has been assisting the rowers in Dunedin for the past 5 years through the Academy of Sport. This marks Grants Craies first year in Dunedin having just moved home after coaching at Cambridge University with fellow kiwi Duncan Holland. As assistant coach at cambridge Grant managed to win the prestigious boat race event. We are tremendously lucky to have him working with us!
