Camp Counselors Usa Opportunity
Aug. 29, 2014
We have recently received correspondance from Camp Counselors USA in regards to a rowing opportunity. see information below.
Hi
My name is Anthea and I am an Area Representative for Camp Counselors USA (CCUSA) here in New Zealand.
As you may or may not be aware, between September and March every year CCUSA recruits young people aged 18 years and over by June 1st to work as camp counselors in American summer camps. The program involves working with children in one of our many camps across the USA for a period of 9 - 11 weeks, between May and September. Counselors are employed to look after the children, or to teach them specific skills such as Rowing and other waterfront activities (hence why I’m reaching out to you!), sports, outdoor activities, performing arts, arts and crafts or other specialty skills). Following camp participants are able to take advantage of their visa's 30 day grace period and travel around the US, further experiencing American culture.
Kiwi counselors are hugely popular with overseas employers, and CCUSA offers young people a fantastic opportunity. Participating in the Camp Counselors USA program is an ideal chance for young people to gain valuable work and life experiences through international exchange. Applications for the program open September 1st each year so WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING FOR APPLICANTS NOW and with THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR ROUGHLY 1000 CAMPS BEING SET ON A LAKE OR OCEAN FRONT you can imagine the demand Rowing and other waterfront activities is huge and we can’t get enough counselors for it! For Rowing and waterfront counselors in particular, camp is a wonderful opportunity to FIND WORK OVER THE WINTER SEASON and POTENTIALLY GAIN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED WATERFRONT QUALIFICATIONS.
I know many young New Zealander's would like the chance to travel for a short time and come back home with many new skills they have learned while working at a summer camp. These skills they will learn while teaching at the summer camp will be an asset to your club when they use these skills to coach younger children within the club the following year so the program could be of interest to some of your members.
I’d love to know if you feel this is something that would interest any of your club members and if you’d be interested in being added to our email database to receive updates about what we are doing? Are there any other email addresses I should use as well as this one? I could also send you out an information pack if you’d like to have something to read or keep on file, or pass along to anybody you think could be interested?
If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact me. I hope to hear from you soon.
Warm regards,
Anthea Read
