Seal Attacks Mens 8!

Oct. 15, 2010

A seal has attacked an OURC mens 8 out training on the Dunedin harbour. The curious animal went to play with the boat but its sheer size has caused some considerable damage. The crew were unharmed and managed to get safelty to shore before the boat went under. Both crew and boat eventually made it back to the shed - later the seal decided to pop by and see the crew again and come up the boat ramp!!

This isnt the first time animals have had a go at an OURC 8, in 2006 a nurse shark bit an oar whilst the crew were sitting still in the boat during a training row early in the morning.

The national media has reported on the story and you can read more here: (photos to come)
